🌞 Stationary Summer: Creating, Hosting & Staying Cool in the Heat

Hey y’all—it’s been a whirlwind summer already, and I realized I hadn’t checked in here in a bit!
While we haven’t been moving around much lately—our travel trailer, the Highland Hideaway (a.k.a. the Mallard), has been booked solid with guests—we’ve been just as busy behind the scenes. Between running the rental, keeping up with custom orders, and squeezing in a few creative projects, the summer days are flying by.
📦 Still on the Road… Just Not Moving Much Sometimes full-time RV life means constant motion. But other times, like now, it’s about holding down the fort. With guests rotating through the Hideaway, we’ve stayed parked in one spot—offering repairs, managing rentals, and enjoying a little breathing room to focus on what we love: creating.
🛠️ Making Things, One Heat Wave at a Time This heat isn’t playing around, but neither am I. I’ve been putting my Glowforge, F-1 Ultra, DTF printer, and heat press to good use—stocking up on summer favorites like earring blanks, engraved medallions, and some nature-inspired designs that’ll hit the shop soon.
The great thing about staying still? More time to actually finish the ideas I sketched months ago while bouncing between campgrounds. The not-so-great thing? Trying to keep gear cool enough to work safely when it’s 90+ outside 😅
🏕️ Hosting Highlights It’s been such a joy meeting guests in person, especially the ones who follow our journey online. Whether it’s helping them settle in, sharing local recommendations, or sneaking in a quick hello during turnover days, connecting with our renters has been a bright spot in a busy season.
📍 Hidden Gem of the Month Even though we haven’t hit the road much, I still want to share a spot worth bookmarking: DeSoto Falls and Little River Canyon in northeast Alabama. If you’re nearby, this place offers amazing views, swimming holes, and a little escape from the summer buzz. You’ll probably see some of it reflected in my next round of nature-inspired designs.
🗓️ What’s Coming I’ve got new stock dropping soon, more rentals on the books, and big ideas brewing for fall. And while we might not be logging miles right now, I’m thankful for the time to focus, create, and keep things running smoothly.
If you’ve been following along but haven’t stopped by the shop lately, now’s a great time—there’s fresh inventory, and I’m always open to custom orders.
Until next time: stay cool, stay curious, and if you’re road-tripping this summer, give your local makers and small RV parks a little love.
