Goodbye Winter, Hello Projects: Big Changes Inside Our Cyclone

If this winter had a personality, it would be the stubborn kind. The kind that lingers too long, tests your patience, and makes you question why you ever complained about summer heat. ❄️
But we made it through.
And now that the snow is (finally) melting and we can breathe again, we’re settling into something that feels really good: focused work, creative projects, and long-overdue renovations inside our Heartland Cyclone.
This season is all about reworking our space to better fit how we actually live.
And yes — we’re doing something a little unconventional.
The Master Bedroom Is Becoming an Office + Makerspace
We’re officially turning the Cyclone’s master bedroom into our office and my makerspace.
It’s not a huge room. In fact, it has just enough space to be truly functional — which means this project is going to require a little ingenuity. It’s going to be cozy. Intentional. Thoughtfully arranged.
And that’s exactly what makes it exciting.
We’re not planning a ton of heavy built-ins because flexibility matters to us. This space needs to:
Adapt as projects change
Allow furniture to shift when needed
Stay multi-functional
Feel inspiring but not cramped
Instead of locking everything into permanent cabinetry, we’re leaning toward smart storage pieces, movable solutions, and creative layouts that make the most of every inch.
It won’t be sprawling.
But it will work.
And honestly? There’s something really satisfying about making a small space pull its weight.
The Garage Makeover: Turning It Into Our Master Suite
Now for the part we’ve been quietly dreaming about for a while…
We’re transforming the garage into our new master bedroom suite.
Yes — others have done it. We’ve seen the conversions. We’ve taken notes. And every time we’ve watched someone wake up to those back windows, we’ve thought:
That’s why we bought this rig.
With the rear windows and our MORryde PatioEX, the garage opens up to the kind of views that made us fall in love with RV life in the first place.
And we want to wake up to that.
Instead of keeping it as a transitional “garage space,” we’re leaning into:
A true bedroom retreat
Soft textures to warm up the industrial bones
Intentional lighting
A layout that celebrates the windows instead of ignoring them
It feels a little backward to move the bedroom out of the master and into the garage… but RV living has never been about following traditional rules.
It’s about designing for how you want to live.
And we want the room with the view.
The Fireplace Reno (It’s Finally Time)
And then there’s the project that’s been patiently waiting in the wings — the fireplace.
It’s been looming long enough.
We’re ready to refresh the surround, elevate the aesthetic, and finally bring it in line with the direction the rest of our space is heading. No more “we’ll get to it eventually.”
Eventually is now.
A Season of Making It Work for Us
This isn’t just about cosmetic upgrades.
It’s about:
Function over form
Creativity over convention
Designing around how we live and work
Making the most of the space we already have
A cozy master-turned-office. A garage-turned-suite with a view. A fireplace finally getting its moment.
After a winter that felt endless, it feels really good to be building again.
Spring is here — and so is renovation season. 🛠️
