We all have to start somewhere

The best advice I've ever heard, when it comes to traveling is "Start small, start now." Spoken by Marc and Tricia Leach from KYD (Keep your Daydream), those words played over and over in my head for at least 2 years until I got the nerve to jump in. It seemed like everyone was doing it - selling everything to travel full-time in an RV of some sort. I was completely drawn in. Was it a fad? Was it something people had been doing for a long time and I just now found out? There are so many of them! Youtube is bursting with content from full-timers, those that buy new or those that buy used or those that renovate or those that live in vans...I mean, really, there is something for everyone. I needed to do this. There was no way I could go buy a $100k rig with 2 house payments and 2 car payments so I had some figuring out to do. Also, I had never really traveled anywhere, and I definitely had never camped... more on that later, though, stick around, it gets interesting. We're here to talk about how I got on the road, so...
Picture it. 2018. Hurricane Michael hits the Gulf Coast. My childhood home, utilized as a short-term vacation rental, was damaged and needed extensive work. Fast forward to 2020, and to our surprise (not really, we had a hunch), some of that work included rewiring the whole house. It was gutted as well so it was basically inhabitable. That was my chance to say to the hubs "Lets get an RV to stay in while some of the work is being done. Then don't have to pay a ridiculous amount for a hotel." He was all for it (shocking, really, I thought I'd get some resistance)! Like I said, we couldn't get anything expensive, we were living the american dream trying to keep our heads above water, so I logged on to Facebook Marketplace and began my search. It didn't take long and this beauty (note my sarcasm) popped up in my search. before I knew it, we were picking her up across town. Meet "Salty B" short for "Salty Beach." She was so cute yet soooo hideous at the same time, but she was perfect for me to tear up and make mine. Literally a week later, we were in FL, working on the house and COVID hit. Salty was home in AL at the time, so when FL announced shut down that afternoon, we packed up and headed back home to AL. The next day, parked in my side yard for all my neighbors to gawk at, I started tearing things out. And that's literally just the beginning! Stay tuned. I'm going to cover all the gory details of what was ripped out, what was renovated, mistakes made (there were sooo many), stuff I made and used, what I didn't like (so I ripped it out again), and what I plan to do next because I'm STILL NOT DONE! (Please forgive the screenshots, I'm terrible at organizing photos. Real life, y'all, real life).
